Blasting media for vacuum blasting

The vacuum blasting process is very versatile. Depending on the choice of granulate, surfaces can be cleaned, roughened, engraved or polished. Walnut shell is used to remove lacquer paint on glass or to clean polished granite. Blasting glass consists of broken glass and is used in various grain sizes on all light-coloured surfaces. The main applications for blasting glass are plaster facades, painted walls, marble and travertine. On dark surfaces, such as granite and clinker, Asilit is mostly used.

The grain size is given in microns. Jet glass SG 150 therefore corresponds to a grain size of 0.15 mm. The following table shows exactly which granulate is used on which surface. The indicated numerical value corresponds to the correct nozzle setting in the dosing unit.

What is of importance when selecting granulate?

In order to receive an optimum working result, the correct nozzle setting must be observed for each granulate. The nozzle setting is located in the lower container, directly at the lower end of the funnel in the dosing unit. The correct nozzle can be set by briefly lifting and then turning the plate.
